Fire crews use aerial platform to reach loose pigeon netting on Eastgate Street in Gloucester

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service crews worked from an aerial platform on Eastgate Street in Gloucester on the evening of Wednesday 14 October 2026 to reach a length of pigeon netting hanging loose from a concrete building above the pavement. Pictures taken between 5.17pm and 5.28pm show two firefighters in the cage of a Bronto Skylift F32 RL working at first-floor level alongside the building's window line, with a separate frame showing the netting hanging free from the underside of the concrete overhang. A second appliance stands in the pedestrianised street behind barrier tape, with an incident commander watching the lift from the ground. The contributor says the loose strip had raised concerns for the safety of people passing below, that it was removed by crews, and that passers-by stopped to watch the response.
