Police divers search Ramsgate harbour for weapon used in fatal taxi driver attack

Police divers and a search and rescue team combed Ramsgate Royal Harbour on Monday 24 August 2026, hunting for the weapon used in an attack that killed one man and left another taxi driver seriously injured. Pictures show a dive tent pitched on a pontoon beside a moored yacht, a diver in the water alongside inflatable lift bags, and officers working the harbour wall behind blue and white cordon tape strung along the railings. A search and rescue support van is parked on the quay beside the fish stall, with police standing in a group at the tape line and a small crowd watching from the pavement. One frame catches a man in dark uniform raising his arm over the water towards the dive team. The contributor says the killing happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, that officers were seen making throwing gestures at the water and dropping markers, and that a robotic instrument was later used to search beneath the surface. The first frame in the set was taken on the evening of Sunday 23 August, with the search sequence running from 10.21am to 1.38pm the following day.
